Amber is your mosaic host and Get Artsy owner. She has a passion for bringing out the inner artist in all her students and is dedicated to honing individual talent. Her mission is to facilitate self development, promote visual perfection, and help students find mindfulness in creativity and mosaics.
As a teacher and mentor, Amber believes in embracing and encouraging each student's artistic style. Under her guidance students can create unique mosaic projects in a fun and relatable way that reflect their own personalities and artistic visions.
Amber's teaching style emphasises her calm and friendly nature. She is sure to make every student feel at ease and more open to expressing their creativity in a positive and supportive environment.
Her eye for detail and wealth of mosaic, art and design knowledge will inspire you to reach your full creative potential and thoroughly enjoy your mosaic classes. Her attention to the finer aspects of mosaic making and her enthusiastic perfectionism instills confidence in her students whilst guiding them towards the best visual solution for their project.
After many years of experience teaching art and design in tertiary education Amber appreciates the value of helping students refine their aesthetic whilst nurturing their personal creative style. She ultimately aims to inspire adults and kids alike to discover the depth of their artistic talents whilst being true to their personality and style.
MORE THAN A MOSAIC ARTIST
PRINTMAKER, DESIGNER, CAT LADY, GLASS HOARDER, MAKEUP ARTIST, PERFECTIONIST, TEACHER.
Amber holds a BA Honours degree with distinction in Fine Art, specialising in Printmaking, from UCT's Michaelis School of Fine Art. Amber is also a qualified professional make-up artist and worked in the television, film, fashion and editorial industry, whilst simultaneously teaching make-up and hairstyling. She has taught in the Arts in tertiary education for over 10 years, including art subjects such as illustration, drawing, art direction, photography, painting and multimedia.
After filling the role as Head of the Art Department at CityVarsity, Amber took on mosaic arts full time and continued to shape the artistic education of others by beginning her Get Artsy mosaic classes. Amber's tenure in teaching various creative genres has informed her philosophy that the learning process is reciprocal and she learns from her students as much as they learn from her. This nuanced exchange of unique perspectives, knowledge and ideas plays a vital role in both hers and her students' creative journey.
Amber uses her formal training in art and design to produce mosaic pieces with a signature aesthetic and appreciation for design, balance and colour harmony. Her experience with custom and commissioned projects always motivates her towards furthering her talents. Amber not only delivers original pieces but also appreciates the personal growth that comes from reaching new creative milestones.
