This is our exclusive beginners hour to learn the basics of making mosaics before you embark on your first project. In this once-off class, you will learn about the different types of tiles and all the introductory tile cutting techniques including using glass nippers, scorers, breakers, and a diamond grinder on various sizes of tiles and sheet glass to create different shapes of tesserae.

You will not make a mosaic in this lesson, but it's a perfect opportunity to practice some new skills and chat about project ideas before committing to weekly classes.

You do not need to do this class before joining us for weekly classes as beginners are always welcome to jump straight in, but we recommend it if you have never mosaiced before as there are many tools and cutting techniques to learn, which can help you to visualise a mosaic project.
